The clock ticked past 1:00 a.m. at the Folding Table Gallery in the heart of Venice California. The stars of the show – Kelly Slater, Bruce Reynolds, Kevin Ancell, Todd Glaser and PM Tenore worked another long night transforming the original gondola housing dock into an epicenter of awareness and curiosity. As Bruce’s collection of contemporary mixed media sculptures found way to their perches, it was impossible to resist their aesthetic captivation and lure of reflection on the current state of politics. Across the room, PM Tenore brushed out the last minute blemishes on the white wall showcasing the pod of Kelly’s seventeen orca boards – a collaboration with artist Kevin Ancell to raise awareness about animals in captivity and pay homage to friends that passed away. And on the opposing wall, Todd Glaser’s black and white images captured the emotion surrounding the moments around birth of The Pod. The artists were intent on their mission, and well before the final piece was set in place Kelly’s vision was ringing true.

"This is an artistic journey through the chaotic and sometimes inflammatory 2016 election cycle. It is our aim to explore and expose the underlying truth, hypocrisy, danger, motivations, misinformation and effects of this process. It is our hope that the artwork produces thoughtful discussion, transparency and an openness to question the powers that be…” – Apolitical Process (Kelly, Bruce, Kevin, Todd, PM)
